Gordon-Colebrooke Continues Supercup Progression With Top Ten Treble

Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke secured a hat-trick of top ten finishes for the second time this season during a hugely encouraging weekend of Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup action at Silverstone (15/16 September). Fresh from his best result of the season so far with fourth at Rockingham last time out, Gordon-Colebrooke produced another competitive weekend at the ‘Home of British Motor Racing’ in his Century Motorsport prepared Ginetta G55 GT4. After showing front-running pace throughout pre-event running on Thursday and Friday, the 25 year old converted that into a great performance in qualifying as he lapped just a tenth of a second shy of the top three on his way to sixth position. That result means Gordon-Colebrooke has now impressively qualified in the top six for five consecutive meetings, and he immediately gained ground from that strong starting position in the opening race to run in fifth at the end of lap two. From there, a controlled drive saw the WHIreland Wealth Management backed driver pull clear of the pack behind and maintain position throughout the remainder of the race on his way to a second top five finish of the season so far. The Buckinghamshire racer made a brilliant start to the second race as he stormed into third place through the first corner, however an unfortunate mistake on the second lap at Brooklands dropped him to the rear of the field in 17th position. Gordon-Colebrooke mounted a fantastic recovery drive to work his way up to ninth position by the chequered flag, which gave him a top ten starting position for the final race of the weekend which was televised live on ITV4 on Sunday afternoon. Another great start saw him pick up two positions in the first two laps to settle into seventh position in his 3C Test Ltd and Tyrrell Automotive supported Ginetta, which he held for a long spell before a late incident ahead promoted him to sixth at the chequered flag. Gordon-Colebrooke, who is a member of the Andy Priaulx Sports Management programme, is now aiming to build on his positive weekend and bring his maiden Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup campaign to a close on a high around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit (29/30 September). Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke: “It’s been a solid, positive weekend all-in-all. The pace in the WHIreland Wealth Management Ginetta was brilliant throughout and I was able to make some good progress across the race meeting. “It was extremely close in qualifying as we expected and while I’d have liked to have been higher than sixth, to finish only a tenth of a second off third was really encouraging and I headed into the races confident I could get myself into podium contention. “Unfortunately when I did that in race two I made a mistake and it cost me a potentially great result, but that aside I’m happy with my performance over the three races and I’m pleased we could enjoy such a consistently competitive weekend. “Brands Hatch GP is my favourite circuit in the UK. It’s a real driver’s circuit, I love the high-speed Grand Prix loop and I can’t wait to tackle it in the Ginetta for the first time. I’m determined to go there and end the season with a first podium finish.”
