Will Burns Is Back For 2019 Ginetta GT4 Supercup Challenge

2016 Ginetta GT4 Supercup vice-champion Will Burns will make an exciting return to the British Touring Car Championship support series this season with reigning champions Rob Boston Racing. The Weston-Super-Mare racer previously completed a three year spell in the championship between 2014 and 2016, with a successful tenure seeing him record no less than 32 podium finishes on his way to a trio of top eight championship finishes. The highlight of that run came in 2016 as Burns fought for the overall title. A sensational effort saw him overturn a deficit of over 90 points to take the battle down to the final racing lap of the season, with his spirited effort ending with him just three points shy of glory. Since then, the 28 year old has had spells in the two biggest championships in the UK, earning a Jack Sears Trophy victory at Snetterton in the BTCC in 2017, before showing hugely impressive pace in the ultra-competitive GT4 class of the British GT Championship last year. With that experience under his belt, Burns returns to the grid this season with Rob Boston Racing, who are the team to beat in the Supercup with two Drivers’ titles and two Teams’ titles in the last three years and more race wins than any other team in series history. Will Burns: “I’m delighted to be returning to the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup in 2019. I’ve loved my time in the championship previously and I’m excited to see what success I can achieve this year with Rob Boston Racing. “The team’s recent success in the Supercup speaks for itself and when I started looking at the Supercup for 2019, I knew they were the team for me. I feel right at home behind the wheel of a Ginetta G55 GT4, so I’m confident we can hit the ground running together. “I have naturally learnt a lot during my time in the BTCC and British GT, which means I come back to the Supercup the strongest I have ever been as a driver. The competition will be fierce, but I’m looking forward to the challenge and can’t wait for the season to start in April.” The 2019 Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup will be contested over eight weekends across the country in support of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, racing with live television coverage on ITV4 in front of average trackside crowds of over 37,000 per race weekend.
