British GT Championship talent Sebastian Priaulx is honoured to have been selected by the British Racing Drivers’ Club to become a member of their coveted Rising Star programme. The BRDC Rising Stars scheme is an invitation-only programme, with only a small number of the most talented up and coming racing drivers in the UK aged 24 and under selected each year; those that the club feels have all the attributes to forge a career of excellence in motor racing. Having been recognised for his impressive performances to date, Priaulx was recently invited for a meeting at the BRDC Clubhouse at Silverstone. After impressing the scout’s panel, he has been selected to join the programme and become in effect a ‘Junior Member’ of the club. The BRDC is the most exclusive club in motor racing and is home to the most successful racing drivers from Great Britain and the Commonwealth. Membership is highly sought after, with it hoped that Rising Star’s will graduate to the ranks of full member over time. Priaulx will follow in the footsteps of his father Andy, who has been a proud BRDC member for two decades now and is a three-time winner of the club’s most prestigious award of the merit, the Gold Star, and is one of only 13 people ever to be awarded the BRDC Gold Medal. Sebastian’s Rising Star selection comes as he enjoys a fantastic season in the British GT Championship. With leading team Multimatic Motorsports, the Guernseyman has proven himself as one of the quickest drivers in the competitive GT4 class. Alongside team-mate Scott Maxwell, the former Ginetta Junior vice-champion and British F4 race-winner heads into next month’s season finale at Donington Park firmly in title contention. That weekend, Priaulx will proudly display the BRDC Rising Star ‘blue roundrel’ for the first time. Sebastian Priaulx: “It is an absolute honour to have been chosen by the British Racing Drivers’ Club as a Rising Star. To be associated with and recognised by such a prestigious club at this stage is a big boost for my career and a proud moment for myself, family and sponsors. “Being able to represent my family in the BRDC is a great honour, with my Dad having a rich history with the club. I’m looking forward to carrying the blue roundrel and hope to achieve some great success as part of the British Racing Drivers Club.” Luke Evans, BRDC Operations Executive and Administrator of BRDC Rising Star scheme: “The BRDC is delighted to welcome Sebastian Priaulx to the Rising Star scheme. Our Scouts have been monitoring Sebastian’s progress over the last few seasons and his performances in this year's British GT Championship have been very impressive. “We are confident that he has the potential to be a very successful racing driver over many years and it is hoped that his involvement with the BRDC will assist his development. As he continues on his projected career path, it is hoped that he will achieve the results he requires to become a Full Member of the BRDC and we wish Seb the best of luck on his journey.”
