Redline Racing are delighted to welcome reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Tio Ellinas to the team for the final two rounds of the 2019 season at Silverstone and Brands Hatch GP. In his second season in the championship, Ellinas produced a sensational 2018 season on his way to title success. Finishing every race inside the top five overall, he posted a supreme record of thirteen podium finishes across the sixteen race campaign. This season, the Cypriot racer has been competing in the F1-supporting Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup with leading team Lechner Racing. An impressive campaign has seen him regularly battling at the front of the field, with four top six finishes including a best of third at Hockenheim. The 27 year old, who previously starred on the single-seater ladder, makes his Porsche Carrera Cup GB return with the support of principal sponsor DMS – a major UK supplier of vinyl records, discs and custom packing. Tio Ellinas: “I’m over the moon to be participating in the final two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, starting at Silverstone this weekend. It will be great for me to return to the series I won last year and compete against some old friends and fellow competitors. “These outings will be great for me to sharpen up ahead of the final two Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup races in Mexico at the end of October. I want to thank Redline Racing and Dave Summers at DMS for making this collaboration a reality. I’m excited to get started.” Redline Racing will be entering five cars for the final two meetings of the 2019 season, with Ellinas joining fellow Pro class drivers George Gamble and Seb Perez, Pro Am title contender Jack McCarthy and Am runner Fraser Robertson. The penultimate meeting of the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season takes place this weekend (28/29 September) at Silverstone, before the finale meeting two weeks’ later (12/13 October) around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Simon Leonard – Redline Racing: “We’re delighted to welcome Tio Ellinas to the Redline Racing team for the remainder of the 2019 season. To have a driver of the calibre of Tio join the squad is fantastic and we’re all looking forward to working with him. “As the reigning champion, Tio will be keen to make his mark in the final four races and we’re confident we can provide him with everything he needs to be fighting at the front of the field from the off. It’s going to be a very exciting end to the season.”
