Fin Green ended his first season in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup with a pair of strong points finishes during an action-packed season finale around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit this past weekend (12/13 October). Bringing the curtain down on what has been a rollercoaster year of highs and lows for the 16-year-old, Green continued his consistent run of results in front of a bumper trackside crowd in Kent. Wet weather proved to be the one and only constant during Saturday’s running, with qualifying proving to be a case of being on the track at the right time. Running as high as third at one stage in his Rob Boston Racing Ginetta G55, Green ultimately was caught out by slower cars around the circuit and settled for ninth on the grid for race one. With the rain continuing to intensify throughout the day, the Thruxton podium-finisher kept his nose clean in the opening encounter as he navigated challenging track conditions, finishing eighth after enjoying a host of battles through the race. Green made progress in the second race of the weekend too as he underlined the consistency he has shown throughout the season, crossing the line in sixth position. Running as high as fifth early on, Green was caught out heading into Druids in the latter stages and fell back a spot; however the former Ginetta Junior race-winner would cling on to sixth at the chequered flag. Drawn onto pole position virtue of the reverse grid draw, Green’s hopes of rounding off the season on a high were tragically ended before the race had even begun. Following the formation lap, Green’s car was pushed off the front row due to a mechanical failure - ending his aspirations on the spot. At the end of the season, the GDS International, Meet the Boss, Opal, Sativa, Braxi and Sapphire Cars backed racer finished eighth in the overall Drivers’ Championship standings whilst Rob Boston Racing triumphed in the Teams’ Championship. Fin Green: "It was a tough weekend; and one we deserved to come away from with more than just the two points finishes. Conditions were tough from the very start on Friday and we were just unlucky in qualifying; after all we were running as high as third at one stage. “We made progress in races one and two, picking up more points, and things finally fell our way virtue of the reverse grid draw - putting us on pole position. I felt confident that we had the pace to be able to stick it out at the front but we never got the chance to do that. “Looking back on the season I think it is fair to say that it has been somewhat of a rollercoaster. I’ve really enjoyed stepping up into the GT4 Supercup from the Juniors but we just haven’t had the luck on our side - if we did then who knows what we might have been able to achieve.”
