Redline Racing Sign Debutant Josh Caygill For 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Redline Racing have added Josh Caygill to their driver line-up for the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB, with the experienced touring car and GT racer set to challenge for Pro-Am class silverware in his debut season in the championship. Caygill’s entry into the Carrera Cup GB with the Teeside squad is the latest chapter in a varied career for the 30 year old. Initially competing on motorbikes, he transitioned to four wheel machinery in 2013 and had spells in the Volkswagen Racing Cup, VW Scirocco R-Cup and Audi TT Cup. The Yorkshireman made his move into GT competition for 2017 and contested two seasons in Blancpain. After a year in an Audi R8 LMS in the Endurance Series, he switched to the Sprint Series and netted a class podium finish on home tarmac at Brands Hatch in a Bentley Continental GT3. Caygill went on to end 2018 with a two event cameo in the British Touring Car Championship, before contesting selected events in the VLN series at the Nurburgring last year. He now makes a full-time return to competition with the support of SM UK, Volkswagen Van Centre Leeds and ESM Shoe Machinery. Simon Leonard – Team Boss: “Josh has shown over the years just how much of a talented racing driver he is in all sorts of machinery, so we’re delighted that he’s chosen to join us for his maiden season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this year. “The championship is hugely competitive and always provides a steep learning curve for new drivers, so we’ll be working hard to give him everything he needs to work his way up the grid and hopefully challenge at the front of the Pro Am pack.” Josh Caygill: “I’ve been looking at the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for a number of years, as it’s one of the best series in the UK with a level playing field and great racing. I wanted to come back and race domestically, so I’m really excited to have got a deal together to join the grid this season. “I wanted to tackle this championship properly, so it was a no brainer to come to Redline Racing. Their previous success speaks for itself and they will be the best team to give me the learning environment I need to progress in such a competitive series. “I want to quietly go about my business this season, learn the ropes and get quicker as the year goes on. Naturally I want to come home with some silverware though, so I will be trying as hard as I can to challenge at the front of the Pro Am class.” The most successful team in Porsche Carrera Cup GB history, the Redline Racing head into the 2020 season with their sights firmly set on challenging for a record-extending 11th drivers’ and team’s titles in the fastest one-make championship in the UK. The 2020 campaign will be contested over eight events at the best circuits in the UK, all in support of the British Touring Car Championship with live television coverage on ITV4. The opening rounds take place at Donington Park in Leicestershire on 28/29 March.
