Carl Garnett Returns For More Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Action In 2020

Following an impressive first season in the ultra-competitive Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, Carl Garnett has more progress and podiums in his sights this year as he returns to the championship with leading team AK Motorsport. Garnett made the jump into Ginetta competition for the first time last season following a successful four year spell in the Mazda MX5 Supercup. Staying with the same team that guided him to front-running results in the Mazda’s, he enjoyed a great first campaign. Getting to grips with his 355 bhp Ginetta G55 GT4 across the campaign, the 43 year old from York secured a breakthrough top ten overall finish in the second meeting of the year at Donington Park and enjoyed a best outright result of seventh at his home circuit Croft. In the same race, Garnett secured his first podium finish in the ultra-competitive Am Class and his impressive progression through the season culminated in a fantastic run of three class podiums in the final five races of the year at Silverstone and Brands Hatch. Garnett now heads into his second season in the championship determined to build on that successful end to 2019 and battle at the front of the Am Class field with the support of loyal sponsors Telescope Group, AC Database Services (ACD) and ValetPRO. Carl Garnett: “I’m really excited to be able to confirm my second season in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup. It is still a dream come true for me to be able to race in support of the British Touring Car Championship and against some of the best drivers in the country. “I’m looking forward to working with the team at AK Motorsport again this year. They’re a great group and with a quick team-mate alongside me, I’m determined to improve on last year’s pace and try to get as close to the Pro drivers as possible. “We are targeting overall top ten finishes in this very competitive series. If the cars are capable of doing the times that the Pro’s are setting, then I want to push myself to be as close to that as I can be. Thank you to my sponsors for making all this possible – bring on the season ahead.” The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is one of the leading one-make GT championships in the UK. Racing alongside the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, the series will be contested over 23 races across eight race weekends at the best circuits in the country, with races televised live through the year on ITV4.
