Woking teenager Rowan Vincent will make his long awaited car-racing debut next weekend (01/02 August) as he enters the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship season opener at Donington Park. The 15 year old karting graduate has teamed up with the successful Richardson Racing team to enter one of the highest profile and most competitive junior motorsport championships in the world, which has produced numerous talents including current McLaren F1 star Lando Norris. After seeing the start of the season postponed for three months due to the COVID-19 lockdown, Vincent is now raring to go as he prepares to embark on a nine event calendar that will take in the best circuits in the country, including Brands Hatch and Silverstone. First up is Leicestershire track Donington Park for the first three races of the season, with Vincent heading into the meeting in confident spirits following a good pre-season testing programme behind the wheel of his blue and white Ginetta G40 machine. The teenage talent, who races with the support of V4 Woodflooring, Concreate and CPP, will be racing in support of the biggest race series in the country, the British Touring Car Championship, with live coverage of his races on terrestrial channel ITV4. Rowan Vincent: “I’ve been pleased with our progress in pre-season testing. I have been focused on getting to grips with handling my car and my track times are going in the right direction. I have a much better feel for my car now, so I’m looking forward to the opening rounds at Donington Park. “I’ve had a couple of tests there and like the circuit, so I’m excited to be going back there to race in front of the fans and live on ITV4 for the first time. I’m both nervous and excited to get my first race under my belt, and hope to gain confidence as the season progresses.”
