Redline Racing scored a brilliant pair of podium finishes in the latest rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Snetterton this past weekend (24/25 October). The Teeside squad entered the penultimate meeting of the season with talented drivers Matty Graham and Scott McKenna both firmly in contention for the Carrera Cup GB’s rookie crown, with the weekend’s two races being crucial in the battle for supremacy. The duo kicked off proceedings with a positive showing in qualifying behind the wheel of their Eighty One Powerdrink backed machines. Graham matched his best result of the season so far in third position, with team-mate McKenna close behind in fifth. Race one took place in damp conditions on Sunday morning and a great launch from Graham saw him briefly lead through the first corner, before slotting back into third. From there, a composed performance saw him stay there throughout for a great podium result. That result earned him second position on the reverse grid for the final race later that afternoon. The Northumberland racer lost some ground on the opening lap and fell to fourth, but a great move into the Wilson hairpin just before mid-distance secured him third and a fourth podium of the year. McKenna meanwhile produced a battling display in the opener to come home in eighth. From the same place on the grid in race two, he produced an impressive performance to gain three positions through the race to score a top five result in his distinctive black and gold machine. Graham came away from the weekend with two Rookie class wins as well, meaning he holds a nine point lead heading into the season finale, while a class podium in race two for McKenna means he remains in contention with a 26 point deficit to his team-mate. Simon Leonard – Team Boss: “It’s been another fascinating weekend of Porsche Carrera Cup GB racing, with cold weather and changing track conditions making it a real challenge around the longest circuit on the 2020 calendar. “Matty was fantastic throughout the meeting. Third on the grid in qualifying put him in a great position to challenge for silverware and he did exactly that with the two third places. A couple of rookie wins as well puts him in the hot seat with two races remaining. “Scott did a great job as well. From a solid qualifying, he bounced back from a tricky opening race to make some brilliant progress in race two. He remains in contention for the Rookie crown heading into the season finale and we’re excited to see two of our drivers in with a chance of success.” Redline Racing have two race weekends left in the 2020 season. The Porsche Sprint Challenge GB comes to a close on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on 7/8 November, before the Porsche Carrera Cup GB heads to Brands Hatch a week later for two races on the Indy track.
