Double Delight For Carl Garnett With Croft Victories

Carl Garnett broke his victory duck for 2021 with a fine brace of Pro Am victories in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup in front of the home fans at Croft circuit this past weekend (18/19 September).

Returning to his local circuit for the sixth meeting of the 2021 season, Yorkshireman Garnett was keen to match the highs of a superb treble victory at Croft last season when competing as an Am driver, with 13 podiums already to his name as a Pro Am competitor this season prior to his latest meeting.

The AK Motorsport driver sent out a message to his main rival Colin White in qualifying on Saturday afternoon, grabbing pole position in his class ahead of the first of three races.

Garnett fought off the first corner attack of White to keep his Telescope, Astrolite, ValetPro, AC Database Services and Demon Tweeks backed car at the head of the Pro Am competition, holding his advantage comfortably before a safety car interruption made for a tense final phase of the race.

The leader held his nerve and did not give his rivals the chance to retaliate and crossed the line to finally take the chequered flag first for his maiden Pro Am class victory.

With confidence and pace on his side ahead of the final two races on Sunday in front of the ITV4 cameras, Garnett aimed to double his victory tally in race two. Although he put up a strong fight, he would be forced to settle for second spot and podium number 15 of the season behind White.

The pair prepared for a third scrap of the weekend later in the day, and this time it was Garnett who added a brilliant second victory to his campaign to round off a strong weekend at Croft, taking the lead on lap one before rival White lost a wheel to ease the pressure on Garnett's run to the chequered flag.

Carl Garnett:“It’s fantastic for all of us to finally get the first wins under our belt, and to do it obviously at my home circuit as well makes it that little bit more special.

"To then get another one puts the icing on the cake as well, although it was a shame that Colin had his issues as we have been enjoying a really good battle all weekend.

"It gives me a spring in my step and the the team have given me a great car to get these results, so onwards to the next meeting and hopefully we can kick on and take the fight for more wins."

Following on from his best weekend of the 2021 season, Garnett will be eager to keep his purple patch going in the next Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup meeting at Donington Park on 09/10 October.
