James Higgins Excited To Kick-Start 2023 British F4 Season At Donington Park

James Higgins has shared his excitement around what is set to be a highly-competitive season in the ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA, which blasts into life this coming weekend (22/23 April) at Donington Park.

After making his debut in the single-seater series towards the end of last year with leading outfit Fortec Motorsport, the 16-year-old has extended his ties with the championship-winning squad for 2023; albeit this time it is for the full campaign.

Boasting an impressive racing CV which includes success in karting and the Ginetta Junior Championship, Higgins made his F4 bow at Silverstone and Brands Hatch last year - making an instant impact from the get-go.

Despite coming up against drivers with a season’s worth of experience, the teenage racer showcased his talents by finishing on the fringes of the points in all six races that he competed in; something he is only too keen to build on.

Now, with the benefit of having had a full winter testing programme under his belt, Higgins - who is supported by Goblin EV and United Rental Systems - is setting his sights on becoming a regular front-runner in the championship that is widely regarded as being the first step on the road to Formula 1.

Having provided a springboard for current Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant; the ten-round, 30-race series boasts a variety of prizes and opportunities for the eventual winner - including 12 crucial FIA Super Licence points - and is broadcast live on ITV4.

James Higgins: “I’m feeling really excited to finally be kicking off the season at Donington Park this weekend. This year’s grid looks to be as competitive as ever and I’m sure that’s only going to make for some great racing!

“In the races that I did last year we showed that we had the pace to run at the front and over the off-season we’ve really improved upon that. Myself and my engineer have worked hard to get the car in a good place and with a great team around me, I’m feeling confident.

“Going into the season knowing what to expect is a real benefit so my focus is just to concentrate on what we as a team can do. If we can bring the best package we have to each weekend then I know we can fight with the best of them. It’s about being competitive week in, week out - starting at Donington Park.”

The ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA kicks off this weekend (22/23 April) with three races scheduled to take place around Donington Park’s National circuit.
