Team Redline Racing came away with a four-podium haul in the second round of the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season at Brands Hatch last weekend (26/27 June), with three trophies in Pro Am and a fine recovery drive by Dan Cammish to maintain the overall series lead.
The 10-time title-winning Teesside squad - the most successful in the series' history - travelled to the 1.8-mile Indy circuit at Brands Hatch in a spirited mood following on from a successful opening weekend in the Carrera Cup GB season at Snetterton.
A four-car Redline Racing assault for the weekend featured Pro ace Cammish and Pro-Am competitors Josh Caygill, Jake Rattenbury and Micah Stanley, the latter having also tasted class victory at Snetterton earlier in the month.
After clocking up a combined 272 laps across the two free practice sessions on Friday, Redline's leading charge the following day would prove to be Cammish in the Pro class. The multiple BTCC race winner and two-time Carrera Cup GB champion came out of the blocks with intent, and duly delivered with a scorching lap good enough to beat his main title rival Harry King by just 0.027s to set up a thrilling fight on Sunday.
The latest chapter of the pair's battle took place on Sunday morning over 34 laps of the Indy circuit, and it was Cammish who got the best launch in his Duckham Oils backed Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in damp conditions. The weather made it difficult for all drivers involved, but contact from King at Paddock Hill Bend on lap two saw him spun to the back of the field.
Setting the race's fastest lap, his recovery from the rear brought him through the Pro-Am and Am field steadily to take the flag 10th, but with a second chance later in the afternoon in better conditions. Starting from his finishing position on the grid, Cammish began a charge in front of the ITV3 cameras to bring his Redline Racing 911 into the frame for a strong result.
Chasing King through the field, he usurped Lorcan Hanafin for fifth, then jumped a further spot before latching onto the rear of Jamie Orton. A spin for the latter at Surtees allowed Cammish to move into third spot, adding a crucial podium for the Leeds racer.
Welshman Rattenbury took up the charge in Pro-Am meanwhile, qualifying second in the class and chasing hard all the way through the chaotic damp opener in the morning. Despite a late moment dropping him to third, he closed the gap and finished right on the tail of the lead duo in a tight finish, less than a second from class success.
Fresh from his long-awaited Snetterton debut after missing out due to the pandemic in 2020, Caygill was fifth in the Pro-Am class after Saturday's qualifying, and the former BTCC racer survived the hectic opener to finish in that same position ahead of Snetterton victor Stanley, who had also tailed Caygill in qualifying.
Stanley impressed in the second outing of the weekend and kept looking forward, the 20-year-old climbing the field to move into the podium spots of Pro Am and salvage a brilliant third place in the category. Rattenbury was a brilliant second meanwhile to cap off a haul of four podiums in Kent for Redline Racing, with Caygill finishing fifth in class.
Team Redline Racing leave Brands Hatch with a two-point championship lead in the Pro category for Cammish, while Stanley sits just nine adrift in Pro Am with 12 races of the 2021 season remaining.

"Kudos must go also to the team and to our Pro Am drivers, particularly Micah for his fine drive in the second race to get onto the tail of Jake who impressed all weekend, grabbing two podiums and narrowly missing out on a win which he would have deserved. Josh has also once again been right in the mix, and more experience will see him become a regular contender."
The Carrera Cup GB squad heads to Oulton Park in over a month's time, with two races taking place over the weekend of 31 July and 1 August.
