Team Redline Racing Win British GT Silver-Am Title

Team Redline Racing have provisionally won the 2022 Silver-Am Class title in the British GT Championship with a weekend to spare (September 10/11), a brilliant accomplishment for the Teesside squad in their first season in the championship. Driving duo James Dorlin and Alex Malykhin have been a force to be reckoned with throughout the season and were once again in the mix at the front of the field in their Lamborghini Huracan GT3 across the penultimate event on the world-famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Dorlin in particular excelled during qualifying on Saturday, with a superlative string of laps culminating in him posting a time within less than a tenth of a second of the outright GT3 lap record on their way to clinching Silver-Am pole position and third overall. An early drive-through penalty unfortunately derailed their chances of battling for a top result in Sunday’s race, however as others hit trouble it became clear the goal of winning the Silver-Am title was achieved and the decision was made to end the race early for damage limitation. Simon Leonard – Managing Director: “Winning the Silver-Am title in our first season in the British GT Championship is a fantastic achievement. Alex [Malykhin] has shown superb progress behind the wheel this year and been consistently amongst the quickest Am’s on the grid, while James [Dorlin] has continued to show his immense talent, further highlighted by setting the quickest qualifying lap of all this weekend. “It was a new series and a new car for us this year, but Alex [Toyne] has got a fantastic team of people together to run the car and they’ve all put in a phenomenal effort to ensure we’ve been up there battling at the front of the grid. They’ve nailed it this year and I’m incredibly proud of them all.”

In addition to their British GT commitments at Brands Hatch, Team Redline Racing were also in action in a Porsche Visit Cayman Islands Sprint Challenge GB triple-header. Coming off the back of some great performances in recent rounds of the one-make series, Steve Roberts and Jason Pelosi were back behind the wheel and keen to impress around the famous Kent venue. Roberts led the charge at the front of the field once again, guiding his Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 to the second fastest time in qualifying. From there, three faultless drives saw him in contention for the race wins on his way to a superb hat-trick of second place finishes. As Roberts extended his podium run to a brilliant nine in a row, Pelosi picked up a great third in the Am class in the opening race before adding two further top five results. The weekend successes mean Team Redline Racing have now recorded more than 50 class podium finishes in the championship. Simon Leonard - Managing Director: “Steve [Roberts] has really hit his stride in the championship now and it was never in doubt that he’d be up there battling for trophies in every race this weekend. Jason [Pelosi] put in a great performance as well and deserved his podium finish. It’s been a great last few weekends with the Caymans and hopefully we’ll end the season with more silverware at Donington Park.” Team Redline Racing will bring the curtain down on both their British GT Championship and Porsche Visit Cayman Islands Sprint Challenge GB campaigns at Donington Park on October 15/16.
