Will Jenkins will continue in the Alliance Racing Young Driver Programme this year as he embarks on a second season in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB with headline support from team partner Wera Tools.
Reigning British Touring Car Championship winning team Alliance Racing recognised Jenkins as one of the brightest young talents in British motorsport when they selected him to join their programme last year, and together they enjoyed a tremendous first campaign in Porsche racing.
The Staffordshire-based driver showed huge progression through the campaign as he secured no less than six overall podium finishes. That included a sensational maiden win at Donington Park, as he converted pole position into a perfect lights-to-flag victory.
While Jenkins will remain in the same championship for 2024, he will be getting to grips with a new car as the championship introduces the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport; an exciting evolution of the model he raced last year.
The 19-year-old talent will be linking up Team Parker Racing for the upcoming campaign. The most successful team ever in one-make Porsche competition in the UK with more than 30 titles to their name, they won the overall 2023 drivers’ crown in both the Sprint Challenge GB and Carrera Cup GB.
Jenkins’ 2024 drive was formally announced today (11th January 2024) at Europe’s biggest motorsport show, Autosport International, at the NEC in Birmingham. The new Porsche Cayman GT4 RS is standing pride of place on Wera Tools’ stand, sporting Jenkins’ eye-catching livery from last season.
Will Jenkins: “I’m delighted to be staying on the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB grid for 2024 with the continued support of Alliance Racing and Wera Tools. We had a great first season together last year and I’m confident we can enjoy a lot of success in the upcoming season.
“Porsche put on a great championship with the Sprint Challenge GB and the introduction of the new Cayman GT4 RS model provides me with an exciting next step in my career. It’s a fantastic evolution of the car I drove last year and should provide some fantastic racing.
“I’m looking forward to working with Team Parker Racing. They are the most established and successful team in the domestic Porsche championships, and I’ve got no doubt they will provide me with everything I need to be fighting at the front of the grid this season.”
Stuart Parker – Team Principal, Team Parker Racing: “We’re very happy to welcome Will to the team for the 2024 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season. He was a tough competitor last year and clearly has a lot of talent behind the wheel, so we are looking forward to working together and helping him take another step forward in his career.”
The Porsche Sprint Challenge GB will once again race exclusively alongside the British Touring Car Championship this year. A six event, 18 race calendar features visits to Snetterton, Oulton Park, Croft, Donington Park, Silverstone and Brands Hatch, with live ITV television coverage at each event.
Alongside the support of Alliance Racing and Wera Tools, Jenkins is also receiving crucial backing from a number of loyal personal partners for the upcoming season; Asset Alliance Group, Hopkins Motorsport, Culina Group and The Reefer Trailer Centre. Information on new partners and the unveiling of his 2024 race livery will come in due course.
