Xentek Motorsport Score Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Podium At Silverstone

Xentek Motorsport added another piece of silverware to their growing collection in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB as Danny Dwyer secured a third place class finish at Silverstone this past weekend (23/24 September).

Aiming to carry the momentum from a brilliant performance in the previous rounds at Donington Park, the South Yorkshire team headed to the ‘Home of British Motor Racing’ aiming to once again challenge for Am class silverware with their Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Dwyer produced encouraging pace from the off around the short, fast Silverstone National circuit during free practice on Friday. He duly backed that up with a great qualifying performance the following morning, securing fourth in class on the grid for the opening two races of the weekend.

An error on the opening lap of race one dropped him back to eighth in class, but he recovered well as the race progressed. Joining a multi-car battle over sixth place, he picked off the two drivers ahead to end up with a top six class finish.

The London-based racer went on to excel in tricky, wet conditions on Sunday morning. A brilliant opening lap saw him gain three places overall and crucially move into third in class, before expertly holding it to the chequered flag for a brilliant podium result.

An unfortunate start to the final race of the weekend saw Dwyer spin on the opening lap following contact. After a safety car period allowed him to catch the rear of the field, a charging drive in the last few laps netted him another top six result.

Sarah-Jayne McKenna, Team Manager: “Danny has driven fantastically well this weekend and fully deserved to stand on the podium again. After building his pace during free practice, he nailed qualifying to put himself in the podium mix and was quick in all three races.

“It’s a shame that a tough start to two of the races cost him the opportunity to challenge for more silverware, but he was able to fight back well to score some good championship points. We’ve got one more round left at Brands Hatch and we’re determined to go there and end the season on a high!”

The 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season comes to its conclusion in two weeks' time at Brands Hatch (07/08 October), followed by the Ginetta season finale at Donington Park (21/22 October).
