Xentek Motorsport Set For Porsche Debut In Sprint Challenge GB

Xentek Motorsport are making an exciting expansion to their GT racing programme in 2023, entering the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB for the first time with their sights set on an AM class title challenge with Danny Dwyer.

After a hugely successful few years in Ginetta competition, during which they’ve won four titles in the GT5 Challenge and enjoyed class success in the GT4 SuperCup, the Sheffield-based team are now looking to add Porsche silverware to their impressive haul.

Launched in 2020, the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB is one of the top one-make GT championships in the UK. The series utilises the popular Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, with a large grid expected for the upcoming season covering a two-class format for Pro and Am drivers.

For the first time, the championship will race exclusively alongside the British Touring Car Championship this season. A six event, 18 race calendar includes visits to leading circuits like Donington Park, Brands Hatch and Silverstone, with live ITV television coverage for each event.

Xentek Motorsport will be aiming to challenge for top honours in the Am class this year with fellow Porsche debutant Dwyer. The London-based racer made his car-racing debut back in 2021 in the Ginetta GT Academy, securing a pair of rookie class podium finishes in his maiden campaign.

Dwyer then linked up with Xentek for his second season in the series, with the 35-year-old talent being a regular presence towards the front of the field en-route to a top six championship finish. With that experience under his belt, he’s ready to hit the ground running in the Sprint Challenge GB with support from Fewkes Sports Management.

Christopher Richards - Team Principal: “We have big ambitions to grow the GT racing side of our team in the next few years and this move into the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB is an exciting first step on that journey for us with a new manufacturer, new car and new championship.

“It’s the second year in a row that Danny [Dwyer] has shown faith in us in a new championship, so we’re thankful for that and excited to work with him again. He’s got the talent to go and challenge for the Am class title, and we’re determined to give him the car and support needed to do that.”

Danny Dwyer “I’m over the moon to be making the move to the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB. After two strong years of competing in the GT Academy, it felt like the time was right to move on. With Xentek Motorsport expanding their GT programme, it was the perfect opportunity.

“Since aligning myself with Xentek Motorsport and FSM, I’ve been able to draw on all of the racing credentials available to me to not only improve behind the wheel, but also see the benefits away from the circuit.

“It’s shaping up to be an ultra-competitive season and I’m confident that we have all of the ingredients to enjoy plenty of success. The aim is to put together a championship charge in the Am Class.”
