Xentek Motorsport Star At Snetterton With Porsche Podium Hat-Trick

Xentek Motorsport have scored their maiden podium finishes in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB after Danny Dwyer stormed to a stunning Am class top three hat-trick at Snetterton this past weekend at Snetterton (20/21 May).

The South Yorkshire team headed into the second meeting of their debut Porsche season in high spirits, with Dwyer having been right in the mix for Am class silverware during a hugely promising opening weekend in the championship at Donington Park back in April.

The longest circuit on the calendar at just shy of three miles, Snetterton’s mix of high-speed corners and technical sections provided a unique challenge for Dwyer and the team as they continue to get to grips with their new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

The London based racer hit the ground running in free practice on Friday, finishing third and fourth fastest in class across the two sessions. He went on to replicate that pace in qualifying the following morning, scoring fourth on the grid for the opening two races of the weekend.

Holding position through the opening laps of an action-packed first race that afternoon, Dwyer then took full advantage of some issues for two cars ahead to storm into second place. He went on to hold that position for the remainder of the race to net a brilliant first top three result in Porsche’s.

Dwyer went on to double up his podium tally in race two on Sunday morning. A brilliant opening lap saw him gain three places overall and move into third in class before a long safety car period. Once the action resumed, he maintained his position to take the chequered flag in third.

The final race of the weekend at a sun-bathed Snetterton was televised live on ITV4, with Dwyer produced a composed performance to run third throughout to complete his podium treble. Those results have moved him up to third in the class points standings ahead of the next rounds at Croft (29/30 July).

Sarah-Jayne McKenna, Team Manager: “What a weekend! Danny was unlucky to miss out on a podium finish in the season opener and we knew he had the speed to score some silverware this weekend, but coming away with a clean sweep was more than we could have ever hoped for.

“Danny is driving really well and the whole team are doing a brilliant job with the car, so it’s been a real group effort to get to these successes. Now we’ve enjoyed the Porsche podium feeling, we want to keep it going into Croft and beyond.”

Danny Dwyer: “It was a mega weekend and I’m absolutely delighted to get on the podium in all three races. I’m definitely feeling more comfortable in the car and can’t wait to get back out there at Croft. A massive thank you to the Xentek Motorsport team for preparing a superb car all weekend.”

While the Sprint Challenge GB now heads into a ten-week break, Xentek Motorsport continue their busy 2023 season with three Ginetta events in the next four weeks at Donington Park (27/28 May), Silverstone (02-04 June) and Snetterton (17/18 June).
